Teen
Tackles Cerebral Palsy To Play Football
Coaches Say He's One Of Team's Hardest Hitters

"Football -- to play the sometimes brutal sport,
it requires you to be big, strong and healthy.
But one Crystal Lake South football player is tackling a disability and in the
process becoming a big hit with his teammates.
CBS 2’s Megan Mawicke has more on this inspirational player.
It's hard to believe that at just 5 feet 8 inches and 135 pounds, Crystal Lake's
Tyler Nelsen is known for hitting.
But coach Jim Stuglis said, "He is one of the hardest hitters we have on the
team pound for pound."
What's harder to believe is that doctors told Tyler he wouldn't lead a normal
life, much less play football. That’s because Tyler has cerebral palsy
"Most people are in wheelchairs, have mental problems. I lucked out,” Tyler
said.
Tyler does have a mild case. He can't do a lot with his left arm and left leg,
but considers himself just like the rest of the team."
